High-fidelity simulation environments — powered by platforms like NVIDIA's Isaac Sim and Omniverse — enable developers to train robots in virtual worlds that closely mirror real-world physics. And foundation models provide robots with generalized reasoning capabilities that transfer across tasks and environments.

Maximo, a solar robotics company, recently completed a 100-megawatt solar installation using its robot fleet, built with NVIDIA accelerated computing, Omniverse libraries, and the Isaac Sim framework.
These are not demonstrations — they are commercial deployments generating revenue and replacing manual labor in industries where labor shortages and safety concerns make automation economically compelling.
Capital Is Following the Technology
The investment community has taken notice. Eclipse, a venture firm and early Cerebras backer, just raised $1.3 billion specifically for "physical AI" — investing across transportation, energy, infrastructure, compute, and defense. Its portfolio includes Bedrock Robotics for self-driving construction vehicles, Wayve for autonomous driving, and Mind Robotics for industrial automation.
The fund's thesis is straightforward: the next wave of AI value creation happens in the physical world, not in chatbots. This conviction is shared by a growing number of investors who see the convergence of cheap compute, mature simulation tools, and capable foundation models as creating a new class of commercially viable robotics companies.
What Comes Next
NVIDIA's GTC 2026 vision of "virtual worlds powering the physical AI era" is ambitious, but the pieces are falling into place. Developer tools for simulation, synthetic data generation, and AI-powered robot learning are now accessible enough that startups — not just large corporations — can build sophisticated robotic systems.
The implications extend across manufacturing, agriculture, energy, logistics, and defense. As simulation fidelity improves and foundation models grow more capable, the gap between what a robot can learn virtually and what it can execute physically will continue to narrow.
