
AMD Deepens Its Agentic-AI Infrastructure Push at Advancing AI 2026
AMD detailed a multiyear Nutanix partnership for an open, full-stack agentic-AI platform and a Rackspace tie-up that places its silicon at the base of a governed AI stack.
AMD used its Advancing AI 2026 program to sharpen a pitch aimed at enterprises building agentic AI: an open, full-stack alternative to single-vendor lock-in.
At the center is a multiyear partnership with Nutanix to develop an open, full-stack platform for agentic AI spanning data center, hybrid, and edge environments. The collaboration integrates AMD EPYC processors, Instinct GPUs, and the ROCm software ecosystem with Nutanix's cloud and Kubernetes platforms. "Enterprise customers need the freedom to run the models and workloads that matter most to their business, without compromise," said Dan McNamara, AMD's senior vice president and general manager of compute and enterprise AI.
AMD also announced an agreement with Rackspace Technology that positions AMD as a strategic partner at the silicon layer of Rackspace's governed AI stack, targeting production deployments in regulated industries. "This collaboration combines the right compute with the right operating model and delivers something the market hasn't offered before: a governed AI stack," said Rackspace CEO Gajen Kandiah.
The framing responds to a stubborn reality in enterprise AI: research cited at the event found that 64 percent of organizations point to data and infrastructure limitations — not a shortage of models — as their biggest deployment obstacle. By emphasizing open ecosystems and flexibility over proprietary stacks, AMD is betting that the fight for agentic-AI infrastructure will be won on integration and governance as much as on raw silicon.
