xAI Is Officially Dead: Musk Completes the SpaceXAI Rebrand With New Logo
The AI company folded into SpaceX now carries its parent's name, putting Musk's rockets, models and the X platform under a single public-company brand.
xAI is no more. Elon Musk's AI operation completed its rebrand to SpaceXAI on July 6, debuting a new logo and switching its official X handle — the final step in a consolidation that began when SpaceX absorbed the AI startup in February.
What Changed
The announcement came via the company's X account, which shared a video of the old xAI mark folding into a new SpaceXAI logo that keeps the stylized "X" while adopting SpaceX's visual identity. Musk had signaled the move in May, saying xAI would be dissolved as a separate company and its products branded under SpaceXAI.
The scope is sweeping: Grok, the developer platform, and the X social network — which xAI acquired in 2025 — all now sit under the SpaceXAI umbrella. Musk's entire non-Tesla empire, from Falcon rockets and Starlink to frontier models and a global social platform, operates under one public company that IPO'd in June at $135 per share.
What Didn't
For developers, the plumbing is unchanged: product architecture and API endpoints carry over as-is, and the Grok brand survives for the models themselves — as demonstrated three days later when the company shipped Grok 4.5 as its first release under the new name.
The Takeaway
Corporate rebrands rarely matter; this one is a statement of structure. SpaceXAI now presents public investors with a single integrated bet — compute in orbit, models on the ground, distribution through X — that no rival can replicate. Whether the market prices that as synergy or conglomerate discount is now a live, tradeable question.
